Art Shows

The CWS Annual ‘Show and Sale’ is happening in June!

It’s time to get your original paintings, prints, cards and browse boxes ready and finish up those award-winning paintings!

Our Annual Show and Sale will be held on Saturday (9am to 5pm) and Sunday (9am to 4 pm), June 13th and 14th , 2026 which is the weekend following the June meeting on Friday, June 12th.  This event will take place at the Art Center of Citrus County.  As you may know, the Homosassa Springs State Park, where we typically hold this event, has been undergoing renovations and we have been unable to do any shows there.  The Art Center has kindly agreed to let us host our Show and Sale at the Art Center and in addition, CWS members have been invited to display their works in an Exhibition containing works of only CWS artists.  The Exhibition will run in June and July. And once again, Helene Lancaster has volunteered to oversee the Show and Sale.

In addition to displaying and selling your artwork, there will be a juried show of our members’ artwork.  Ribbons and Cash Awards will be given as follows: $100 for Best of Show, $50 for First Place, $25 for Second Place, and $25 for Third Place. Two Honorable Mentions and President’s Choice will get ribbons. You may enter up to two ORIGINAL FRAMED hanging paintings to be judged and there is an entry fee to cover the expenses of hiring the jurist: $10 for one, $15 for two entries. There is no time limit on creation, but paintings must be the artist’s original creation and idea.  Those paintings that have previously won at a CWS juried function cannot be re-entered, and those done in workshops are not eligible.  Participation is not mandatory and members can choose to display their works, without entering them for judging.  Judging will take place on Saturday morning, beginning at 9 am, so all paintings entered for judging must be in place at that time.

For the Show and Sale, there will be two areas for displaying, entering for judging and/or selling your artwork:

  • Art Center Exhibition – Paintings entered in the Exhibition will be displayed on the walls of the Education Building in the same manner the Art Center does now.  Artwork maximum size is 48 inches in any direction including frame and must be ready to hang by wire no less than 2 inches from the top of the frame for single-point hanging with wire ends wrapped.  All paintings must hang until the Exhibition’s close date at the end of July, with one caveat.  If a painting entered in the Exhibition is sold during the Show and Sale weekend, that painting can be replaced with another of the artist’s paintings and the replacement will then remain until the end of the exhibition.  Intake for paintings for the Exhibition will be Wednesday, June 10th from 10 am to 1 pm.
  • Weekend Show and Sale –Racks will be set up in the middle of the room to display those paintings that will be on display for the weekend Show and Sale only, whether for judging, display or selling.  Intake for these paintings will be Saturday morning June 13th beginning at 8 am and will be taken down after the show ends at 4 pm on Sunday, June 14th.  Tables will be available to those selling their art, as well as room for browse boxes.

As we have done in the past, 20% of all sales will be donated to the venue where the show is held.  In this case, it will be to the Art Center of Citrus County.  For those who have not participated in a CWS Show and Sale, all sales will go through one check out point.  Sales will be kept track of for each artist and a check for the net amount of your sales will be mailed to you after all the monies are collected and balanced.  Please provide a Self-Addressed Stamped. Envelope (SASE) to Helene Lancaster.

Use the link below to view and download the entire rules for showing and selling your artwork. (Ignore the references to the Homosassa State Park and Friends of HSWSP.)

A second download link is provided below for those selling their artwork. Inventory sheets must be given to Helene detailing all your artwork, whether original paintings, prints or cards, which will be for sale.

This Show and Sale takes a lot of work and coordination and Helene cannot put on this show by herself.  Volunteers are needed to help set up the racks on Friday and take them down on Sunday, to set up tables and tablecloths for the sales and checkout, and for shifts to work the checkout area during the weekend.  Please volunteer to help Helene. Signup sheets will be circulated at the May luncheon.

For questions or to volunteer, please contact Helene Lancaster at (352) 257-1261, or by email at me2xs@aol.com.

Guidelines and Inventory sheet follow.
